I was suffering from some artistic malaise this week, and wondering if I might ever be inspired again. Luckily, I was visiting my local library and happened across a book of art by James Jean.
The book was a collection of his comic book covers for the series “Fables”, and I found it to be absolutely fantastic. His work seems to explore the whole range between strictly traditional and purely digital. I was particularly intrigued by his use of line-work with digital color, and decided to try it myself.
I was so inspired I couldn’t be bothered to actual come up with an idea before I started throwing my pencil at the page. So admittedly, it’s not my most original creation, but I found the results to be very intriguing.

But James Jean does it better, so go look him up, do it now!
