Craft Riot : craft proposal

In hopes of sponsoring a craft project at the upcoming craft riot, here is a tutorial on how we could make fairy kitten plush toys, suited best for 6-12 year olds.

We’d start with some cut outs of both the cat from fabric and the wings from assorted paper.

Then we’ll draw a face on the cat with a fabric marker or some sort of marker.

Next we’ll sew up the outside of the cat.

Then we’ll turn the cat inside out and stuff it with polyfill.

Next we’ll seal up the wings with transparency paper.

Then, last but not least, we will use a simple stitch to attach the wings to the cat and voila! Fairy magic is just that easy.

I’ll provide a coloring page for the younger kids, here are examples of some coloring pages I’ve made in the past.

Hey there! I think the kids will love this! A few ideas from my recent experience teaching this summer…1. you may want to pre-cut the shapes for the younger kids and provide a few cardboard templates, scissors, and sharpies for the older kids to cut their own. 2. I don’t know where to buy them, but maybe you could get some big plastic dull needles for the young ones so they don’t hurt themselves. 3. Maybe explain how to put the transparency paper on more thoroughly. Maybe punch holes in the wings to make it easier to sew through. Hope this helps, and I’m sure it’ll be a lot of fun!
